The Broad Place Travels – Lombok

After travelling for almost three weeks through Lombok, one of Indonesia’s islands, I strongly doubt we will ever again visit Bali. It’s everything Bali was over 20 years ago, rural, raw and real. It’s hard to find someone wearing shoes outside of the main towns, the roads are rough and ready, chickens rule the sidewalks, cows roam the beach and monkey’s dominate everywhere. A short 10 minute speed boat takes you from Sengiggi to the Gili Islands should you wish for a change in scenery and it’s only a 25 minute flight from Jakarta and Bali. We adored everything this trip had to offer; driving all over the island through rice fields with cows wandering the streets, and surfing from fishing boats and eating delicious food everywhere we went. It’s easy to be healthy and keep fit and get some sun, swim at beautiful beaches and completely relax. Arran and I like a holiday where we explore, and adore an urban landlocked city like New York, Osaka or Paris. The fact that we kicked back and utterly relaxed here, never once restless, is a testament to the ambience and laid back nature and charm of Lombok.

We stayed at three wonderful places that we have reviewed through the following links
